Sakichi Toyoda produced his first automobile in 1934. A prolific inventor, he was known for creating a loom he had licensed a single patent to a British company for $1 million yen. This money was used to start the Toyota Motor Company. It was not till 1967, that Toyota came to the USA, albeit as a niche player. The Corona four-door sedan was seen as competing mainly against the VW Beetle, but it quickly became known for its quality and its low price. Today, there are a diverse range of vehicles in Toyota’s model line up. These include: the Camry (hybrid), FJ Cruiser, Yaris, 4Runner, Avalon, Solara, Corolla, Highlander (hybrid), Land Cruiser, Matrix, Prius, RAV4, Sequoia, Sienna, Celica, and the MR2 Spyder.
