New Porsche Cars

Ferdinand Porsche’s legacy began at the Ludwig Lohner Company in 1899, when he designed the Lohner-Porsche electromobile, the first Hybrid vehicle featuring a controllable front axle that was suitable for everyday city use. At the 1900 World’s Fair in Paris, young Porsche’s vehicles caused a splash almost as big as the one created by the Eiffel Tower, which had been built for the Fair but had not yet been approved for the public’s use. However, it was not till 1931, when Porsche started his own design and manufacturing company in his own namesake. His innovative idea was to take commissions from other companies to develop solutions for specific problems; while he would sell the solutions, the know-how thus gained was to be proprietary and he would retain the right to utilize it in the future as he saw fit. It was a brilliant idea that lives on in the Porsche development Center in Weissach. Today, the Porsche lineup includes the Boxter, Carrera, Cayenne, Cayman, GT3, Turbo S, and the Carrera GT.
