New GMC Cars

The formation of General Motors is actually the story of three companies: Oldsmobile, Cadillac, and Buick. All three had made ample progress in automotive technology prior to 1907. However, it was Billy Durant who led the formation of GM in 1908, with the merging of Oldsmobile with Buick, and a year later Cadillac. Durant expanded quickly and was forced out by bankers. Undeterred, he hired racecar driver Louis Chevrolet to design a new car, and in 1915 added Chevrolet with GM and regained control of the company. In 1986, GM reinvented itself with the emergence of Saturn. This was a successful attempt to develop not just a new type of car, but a new method of manufacturing and selling with no haggle pricing. Today’s GMC lineup includes the Envoy, Savannah, and the Yukon. The Saturn line up includes the Sky, Vue, and the Ion. Additionally, the GMC truck line up includes the Canyon, Savannah and the Sierra.
